HSE University Strategic Development

Campus Infrastructure: Innovative Working Spaces & Work-Life Balance

HSE University makes maximum effort to provide students and colleagues with access to wide range of library resources, databases and other resources for their studies, research and creative activities, as well as infrastructure for independent (project) work, remote and hybrid learning.

New types of working spaces:

  • Creatingnew academic and lab spaces for self-study and team project work of staff, students and doctoral students (e.g., blended-learning classrooms, co-working spaces, etc.).
  • Expanding available digital library resources; creating a system for recommendations and consultation services; remote access modes.
  • Creating new labs to provide 24/7 available areas for effective literature surfing and teamwork.

Developing comfortable infrastructure for accomodation and recreation:

  • Creating spaces for networking and recreation for staff, and undergraduate and doctoral students.
  • Outsourcing medical, fitness and sports, catering and shopping services.
  • Ensuring access to the University’s infrastructure for disabled persons.
  • Provision of accommodation services, depending on students’ preference and accessibility of HSE University dormitories and housing options from the rental market with the University’s support.

Developing tools for effective campus management:

  • Introducing a single standard for administration, information and infrastructure services at HSE University, e.g., digital standards.
  • Developing a standard for individual work of the University’s staff, e.g., on-campus, blended and remote formats.
  • Creating bilingual environment throughout the entire HSE University framework.

Success Story: 'Pokrovka' Complex

Due to the features of HSE University, its subdivisions were dispersed through many relatively small complexes in Moscow. Nevertheless, realising the need for a large complex and bringing subdivisions and research teams in closely-related academic fields under one roof, the University’s administration has initiated large-scale reconstruction of its buildings on Pokrovsky Boulevard.
