HSE University Strategic Development

Data Culture & Digital Transformation of Education

HSE University is developing a system to educate specialists for the digital economy, relying on our unique expertise in computer and data science, as well as the advantages of remote learning technologies.

Data Culture:

  • Creating and integrating courses in data science, programming, and machine learning into students’ curricula, e.g., by 2024, one fourth of students will be taking elective elements from the Data Culture module.
  • Specialised training programmes for instructors in non-IT subjects and practice-oriented programmes to train specialists for the digital economy.
  • Mandatory independent assessments of the digital skills of students and instructors by leading digital companies (e.g., Yandex, Sberbank, Kaspersky Lab, SAS, JetBrains, Tinkoff, etc.).
  • Transferring the Data Culture module to other academic institutions as a package solution.

Digitalisation of education:

  • Mastering courses in conjunction with the application of distance learning technologies.
  • Providing AI-driven e-learning resources that can replace duplicated elements of core lectures.
  • Extending e-learning: by 2030, online technologies will be utilised in 60% of courses, and 25% of courses will be completely taught online.
  • Creating globally focused educational products using digital and online technologies.
  • Creating digital services for project work, assessing outcomes and building a portfolio.
