Digital Transformation: New Tools & Opportunities
HSE University aims to implement the Digital University model in order to improve its performance in educational activities, R&D work, strategic development and other areas through creating integrated digital solutions. Furthermore, digitalisation contributes to the constant development of HSE University’s target model, helping to address risks and opening new opportunities.
Digitalisation of education and R&D activities:
- Analysis of the educational marketplace based on Big Data, thereby allowing us to manage individual educational tracks, analyse digital footprints and digital portfolios, and perform digital assessment and proctoring processes.
- Open platform for advanced administration of study processes.
- Fully functional mobile apps for students and academic staff.
- Tools for individualisation of programmes and courses, proactive AI assistance, tutoring, monitoring of teaching quality, perception and ability to master materials.
- Digital platforms for project proposals, job finding and career services.
Data-driven administrative approach:
- Platform of universal tools, e.g., HR services, digital regulations, authentication services, digital signature, ESB access, master-data administration services and other tools.
- Integrating digital tools into the University’s common virtual environment.
- Introducing Big Data technologies on common integrated virtual platforms, relying on digital analytical tools and services for the University’s internal Big Data-driven administration.
- Introducing AI-driven technologies for managing the University’s digital footprint in regards to communications with its students, staff and guests.
- Ensuring data storage and security with the use of distributed register technologies.
- Replicating HSE University’s digitalisation experience among external stakeholders.
Developing digital infrastructure:
- Enhancing the capacities of core and wireless networks, implementing a system of centralised management and infrastructure monitoring.
- Introducing cloud storage and data processing technologies, developing systems for remote access to infrastructure.
- Migrating core corporate systems to external data centres, integrating conference and webinar services with an innovative digital platform.
- Developing virtual computer classes and labs for remote activities.
- Updating digital infrastructure to ensure high-speed data exchange between terminal devices connected to campus or dormitory networks.
New Practice: HSE University Digital Assistants
The project first appeared in 2020 owing to the rapid transition to remote learning, when the need for digital assistance for University’s staff, faculty and students increased drastically. As HSE University strives to improve digital literacy in its community, it also needs ‘ambassadors’, who can provide assistance to those who need it.
