Researchers from the AI and Digital Science Institute (part of the HSE Faculty of Computer Science) presented cutting-edge AI studies, noted for their scientific novelty and practical relevance, at the AI Journey 2025 International Conference. A research project by Maxim Rakhuba, Head of the Laboratory for Matrix and Tensor Methods in Machine Learning, received the AI Leaders 2025 award. Aibek Alanov, Head of the Centre of Deep Learning and Bayesian Methods, was among the finalists.

Yandex is collaborating with leading Russian universities to launch a new educational programme called Physical AI Garage. This initiative unites five universities—HSE University, ITMO, MIPT, MAI, and MEPhI—to train future professionals in physical artificial intelligence by tackling real-world industrial challenges. The programme is free, and participants will receive scholarships.

HSE UNITY FEST, a large-scale, three-day celebration of national cultures, has taken place at HSE University. The event was an opportunity to make new friends and experience a true sense of unity, and visitors could immerse themselves in the cultures of different nations, explore their traditions and values, and take part in workshops and games. The BRICS International School: New Generation has concluded at HSE University, bringing together more than 100 participants from 38 BRICS and Global South countries. The attendees included early-career researchers, diplomats, entrepreneurs, journalists, and civil society representatives.

The autumn school of the HSE Endowment Fund’s Donors Club has taken place at HSE’s Pokrovsky Bulvar campus. The event brought together alumni, as well as winners and nominees of the HSE Outstanding Alumni Award. Almost 200 students of IT programmes at HSE University–Nizhny Novgorod will soon be able to live in modern co-living spaces with all the essentials for living, studying, and working. The complex on Bolshie Ovragi Ulitsa boasts 1,359 places and a dedicated ecosystem for fostering the development of future IT specialists.

At the end of August, 2025, a large-scale forum ‘Territory of the Future. Moscow 2030’ took place at the Museon Art Park, where students from different universities demonstrated their inventions and art installations. Graduates of the 2025 Master’s programme in Product and Industrial Design at HSE Art and Design School presented the first Russian autonomous flying robot, Belka, and medical equipment designed for disinfecting donated blood, Ance. On September 1, 2025, Rector Nikita Anisimov visited the HSE Campus in Perm. During his trip, he took part in the opening ceremony of the new academic year and attended the traditional assembly of the HSE Lyceum in Perm.

On July 19 and 20, 2025, Russia’s largest youth festival, VK Fest, took place at the Luzhniki stadium. HSE University presented its advanced developments, including a prototype for the CubeSX-HSE satellite and hi-tech games powered by AI. Everyone could participate in the ‘Human or AI’ quiz or attend workshops on spacecraft assembly and game design basics.
