UN Highly Acknowledged the Foresight Center of National Research University Higher School of Economics
UNCTAD report acknowledged contribution of the International Research and Educational Foresight Center of HSE University Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge (ISSEK) to development of Technology Foresight (TF) and Technology Assessment (TA) methods for policy-making in long-term planning and anticipatory governance, including into Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement.

ISSEK Published a Navigator on Foresight Methods
The book “Foresight: methods and practices” is a methodological guide for Foresight studies and forecasts development, in which 28 methods of the future studies are clearly described and analyzed. The issue continues a publication series on Foresight methods and expands a range of tools offered to use. The book addresses to specialists using Foresight for medium- and long-term forecasting.

2025 Scientific Collaboration Outcomes: HSE University in Perm and Iran University of Science and Technology
The first year of the project "Internationalization of Companies from Developing Countries: The Role of Intellectual Resources in Response to Exogenous Shocks", implemented in 2025–2027 under the HSE University Joint Basic Research Projects ‘International Academic Cooperation’ competition, has been successfully concluded. The project is carried out by the International Laboratory of Intangible-driven Economy at HSE University in collaboration with Iran University of Science and Technology, under the supervision of Maria Molodchik and Amir Zakeri. All planned commitments for the first year have been fully fulfilled.

In late December 2025, a unique competition was held at HSE University where participants solved challenges not by writing code, but solely by interacting with Sber’s GigaChat artificial intelligence model. The Improm(p)tu hackathon was an experiment less about programming skills than a new form of literacy: the ability to work effectively with AI by translating complex problems into a language neural networks can understand.

The Rope Shop Educational Space of HSE University–St Petersburg hosted a conference on the present and future of Russian–Chinese relations. Together with Luo Zhanhui, Consul General of China in St Petersburg, leading experts in Asian and African Studies discussed vectors for the long-term development of the countries, the synergy of joint projects, and future educational partnerships.

International Conference on Foresight and STI Policy took place at HSE ISSEK
XV International Academic Conference ‘Foresight and Science, Technology and Innovation Policy’organized by HSE University Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge took place on 12-14 November 2025.  This year programme included nine thematic sessions and special workshop for BRICS countries. The conference traditionally became a platform for discussing the future of technology, transformation of labor markets, creative economy, role of artificial intelligence, and sustainable development, bringing together experts around the world from: Russia, China, India, South Africa, Brazil, Egypt, Iran, the UAE, Indonesia, Australia, the UK, Malaysia and other countries.

HSE University Presents Game Engineering Innovations at Moscow International Video Games Week
HSE University recently participated in a key 2025 gaming industry event, the Moscow International Video Games Week (MIVGW). HSE MIEM took part in several formats, hosting an open day for its online Master’s programme ‘Digital Engineering for Computer Games’ and a workshop ‘Gamedev Automation: How AI is Changing the Approach to Virtual Simulation Design.’ Furthermore, the ‘Game Engineering and Interactive Systems’ workshop and indie studio Bear Head Studio showcased their new game engine—the Claw Engine—at the exhibition area at Skolkovo. Experts of the HSE Faculty of Computer Science joined in panel discussions.

International workshop ‘Foresight and STI Policy: Recent Findings’ with participation of delegation from Malaysia organized by the Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge took place at the HSE University. The parties exchanged experiences implementing research projects in science, technology, and innovation and discussed promising areas for further cooperation.

On October 30th-31st, the Perm campus of the National Research University "Higher School of Economics" (HSE) hosted researchers from 16 Russian and 9 international universities for the XII International Conference on Applied Research in Economics "iCare." The two-day event focused on internationalization in emerging economies, featuring key presentations from Professor Kazi Sohag, Head of the Laboratory of International and Regional Economics at Ural Federal University (h-index 41), and Professor Kayhan Tajeddini of Tokyo International University's Department of Strategic Management and International Business.
