HSE University hosted a presentation of the Centre for South Arabian Studies, established under the Institute for Oriental and Classical Studies at the Faculty of Humanities. The centre’s work aims to enhance the study of languages and cultures while fostering closer collaboration with scholars and universities in the Arabian Peninsula. The presentation was attended by HSE Rector Nikita Anisimov and diplomats from Yemen, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.

Research Centre for Cognitive Health and Intelligence Opens at HSE University
The new research subdivision will focus on both the fundamental and applied aspects of human intelligence studies. The goal is not only to investigate the brain's cognitive mechanisms but also to devise strategies for enhancing and sustaining cognitive well-being. Led by prominent Russian and international scientists, the centre will pursue several research areas with main foci on intellectual functions and their operation under various conditions, the mechanisms of language communication, bilingualism and cognitive reserve, and the role of sensorimotor systems in cognitive processes.

New Joint Department with RAS Marchuk Institute of Numerical Mathematics Opens at HSE University
A new joint department with the Marchuk Institute of Numerical Mathematics (INM RAS) has been established at the HSE Faculty of Computer Science. This collaboration promises to combine the scientific and educational resources of two leading research centres, enabling the training of highly qualified specialists. The department is headed by Dr Andrey Bogatyrev, a professor and Doctor of Physics and Mathematics.

Experiencing Japanese Studies in Practice: HSE University Strengthens Cooperation with Japanese Universities
In December, a delegation from HSE University, led by Rector Nikita Anisimov, visited Japan to strengthen educational and scientific cooperation. Representatives from HSE University met with the leaders of prominent institutions in Russian studies, including Tokai University, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Hosei University, and Keio University. The visit, initiated at the invitation of the Japanese Ambassador to Russia, marked the first official visit by a delegation from a Russian university to Japan since 2022.
