TheAI Alliance Russia has announced a new ranking of Russian universities based on the quality of education in the field of AI. A total of 203 universities from 68 Russian regions participated in the ranking. HSE University was the first to join the highest A++ group.

On July 10–11, 2025, Moscow hosted the 10th Hope for Technology National Forum of the Rehabilitation Industry and Universal Design. The event was aimed at discussing innovative achievements in the rehabilitation industry. The MIEM Student Design Bureau and the HSE Institute for Cognitive Neuroscience presented a smart orthosis, which was developed at the request of orthopedists.

HSE University will showcase cutting-edge innovations and educational opportunities at the anniversary edition of VK Fest 2025, Russia’s largest youth festival. Visitors can look forward to interactive workshops, VR exhibitions, AI-powered tech games, and even a chance to send a message into space.

The team at MIEM’s Game Engineering and Interactive Systems studio has begun open testing of the second version of its game engine, Claw Engine. The HSE News Service takes a closer look at the product, which is being developed by MIEM’s student project teams.

The first HSE University satellite has completed its work in orbit after more than 35,000 hours of trouble-free operation, one billion kilometres travelled (24,600 orbits around the Earth), and hundreds of full-frame shots taken of the Earth's surface across an area of 320,000 km². The Programme Committee of the 25^th Yasin (April) International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development has summed up the initial results. In 2025, 1,384 people from 24 countries and 29 Russian regions participated in the conference, with 335 of them delivering presentations.

The Changellenge career platform has summarised the results of the largest case championships of the 2024/25 season, presenting an updated ranking of universities according to their level of practical orientation. HSE University was announced as the overall winner.

On May 22-24, HSE University presented its developments and degree programmes at the main IT event of the year, the Positive Hack Days International Cyber Fest at Luzhniki. Students and specialists of the Centre for Software Development and Digital Services of the Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (HSE MIEM), the School of Software Engineering of the Faculty of Computer Science, and the MIEM Workshop for Game Engineering and Interactive Systems together with students from HSE Art and Design School greeted festival guests.

On May 30, 2025, a general meeting of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) announced the results of the elections for its full and corresponding members. Around 1,800 individuals took part in the voting. Among those elected this year are scholars from HSE University.

The final of the Russian Competitive Programming Cup in the Algorithmic Programming discipline has taken place. Seven students and one lecturer from the HSE Faculty of Computer Science took part in the event. Bachelor’s students from the Applied Mathematics and Information Science programme claimed the top three places.
