In February 2026, the International Laboratory of Intangible-Driven Economy (IDLab) and Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST) held a joint seminar as part of the project ‘Internationalisation of Companies from Developing Countries: The Role of Intellectual Resources in Response to Exogenous Shocks.’ The project has been implemented as part of the ‘International Academic Cooperation of HSE University’ initiative.

The Machine Learning in Information Security workshop is being launched as part of a strategic cooperation agreement between the HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (HSE MIEM) and Ozon. The programme will train specialists capable of ensuring the security of artificial intelligence systems. Students will study methods for protecting large language models and develop tools aimed at improving the resilience of AI systems to attacks.

The results of the BRICS International School: New Generation, which was held in Delhi, proved that young people have become key participants in the global dialogue. In 2026, HSE University–St Petersburg is launching a new English-taught Master’s in Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation. In this interview, Magdalena Gaete, scientific supervisor of the programme, shares why social entrepreneurship is crucial in the modern world and what skills students will gain during their studies.

Scientists at HSE University have investigated the effect of parks on the cognitive and emotional resources of city dwellers. The researchers compared brain electrical activity in 30 participants while they watched videos of walks through parks and along busy highways. The results showed that green urban environments with trees produce a consistent effect across individuals, helping the brain calm down and relax. By contrast, walks along busy streets were found to be distracting. The findings have been published in Scientific Reports.

This year, HSE University marks twenty years since the launch of its Software Engineering field of study. In February 2006, the HSE Academic Council decided to establish the Department of Software Engineering—the first of its kind in Russia. The department was later reorganised into the School, which since 2014 has been part of the Faculty of Computer Science.
