On May 26, 2026, the central atrium of the building at 11 Pokrovsky Bulvar will host the annual large-scale festival of engineering developments created by project teams from the HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (HSE MIEM). The programme includes presentations of the best student technological projects, stands from partner companies and joint workshops, a lecture series featuring practising engineers, a round table on the development of engineering education, and presentations of MIEM master’s degree programmes.

CIPR 2026, Russia’s largest conference on the digital transformation of key industrial sectors, has opened in Nizhny Novgorod. The event brings together Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, members of the government, governors, company executives, and researchers. This year, HSE University has become an official partner of the conference. The short film Funeral House Life, produced as a graduation project at the HSE Film Institute, has been included in the Short Film Corner catalogue of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival. This black comedy by HSE graduates was the only entirely Russian-produced project selected for this year’s programme.

HSE researchers are training large language models (LLMs) to understand Russian-language scientific terminology while improving their energy efficiency. The adapted model runs 2.7 times faster and requires 73% less memory than the original open model, allowing it to operate on more affordable hardware. The programme has passed state registration.

Fedor Shirshikov, a student of the Master's in Corporate Research, Development and Innovation Management at HSE University, has proposed an innovative technology for identifying oil and gas fields by detecting indicator microbes using PCR tests.
