HSE University-St Petersburg hosted the Arab Culture Day. About 100 guests from Egypt, Yemen, Jordan, Lebanon, Algeria, and other countries got acquainted with the history of the Persian Gulf states, tried on traditional costumes, and tasted Oriental food.

At HSE University St Petersburg International Partners' Week, representatives of world-leading universities discussed how to adapt to the rapid development of AI technologies: from integrating neural networks into the educational process to reconsidering the role of the person in creative professions.

Forbes Education has published its ranking of the top 20 Russian universities with the strongest reputations among employers. As in recent years, HSE University secured first place with a reputation index of 98 points. In addition, 67.2% of employers stated that they trust the quality of education provided by HSE University, an increase of three percentage points compared with last year.

Unmanned vehicles, courier robots, and smart speakers are rapidly becoming a part of our lives. In 2026, the HSE Faculty of Computer Science opens its new Bachelor’s Programme ‘Design of Intelligent Robotic Systems’ (DIRS). It will train specialists at the intersection of IT, artificial intelligence, and robotics. HSE University keeps expanding the partnership with Latin America: at IPW-2026, experts from leading South American universities delivered lectures for HSE University-St Petersburg students on environmental projects, social politics and international relations, and discussed prospects of cooperation with Russia.

Researchers at the AI and Digital Science Institute of the HSE Faculty of Computer Science have developed a new method—the Signature-Guided Data Augmentation (SGDA) framework—that achieves 99% accuracy in motor fault detection and 86% accuracy in fault classification. The application of this approach can reduce industrial equipment repair costs, minimise downtime, and improve production safety. The study results have been published in Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence.

Is it possible to predict, based on the configuration of streets and buildings, where a café will open or where traffic congestion will occur? Participants in the Spatial Analysis and Modelling of Urban Processes research and study group use open data and machine learning to identify universal patterns. Alexander Sheludkov and Eduard Somov discuss the purpose of comparing cities, the need for new forms of urban statistics, and how open data is transforming approaches to urban studies.

In May 2026, a delegation from Sultan Qaboos University (Oman) made an official visit to HSE University. The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss new forms of cooperation and partnership and to identify areas of mutual interest. Representatives of HSE’s Moscow, St Petersburg, and Nizhny Novgorod campuses spoke about their shared interest in expanding joint projects, primarily in the field of artificial intelligence—a strategic development priority for both universities.

A seminar involving Russian and Chinese scholars on cooperation between the state and non-profit organisations was held in Beijing. Participants discussed the evolution of institutions, cooperation practices, and challenges facing the development of the non-profit sector, and also presented the results of their research. The meeting concluded with agreements to expand joint projects and academic exchanges.

From May 18 to 22, HSE University–St Petersburg became the centre for global academic dialogue. This was the third time the city hosted International Partners' Week, a strategic event of HSE University. The event brought together more than 100 delegates from 45 universities and 20 countries. Participants shared their impressions of the forum and HSE University.
