On November 9, 2025, the HSE CS × BRICS Ideathon—a large-scale intensive event for students aimed at developing international project skills and finding solutions to current challenges facing BRICS countries—took place at HSE University’s Pokrovsky Bulvar campus. The event was organised by the Multilateral Strategic Projects Office with the support of the BRICS Expert Council–Russia , the Faculty of Computer Science (FCS), and the HSE FCS Hackathon Club

HSE UNITY FEST, a large-scale, three-day celebration of national cultures, has taken place at HSE University. The event was an opportunity to make new friends and experience a true sense of unity, and visitors could immerse themselves in the cultures of different nations, explore their traditions and values, and take part in workshops and games. Students shared their impressions of the event with the HSE News Service.

During the visit to India, the delegation from HSE University-St Petersburg signed cooperation agreements with key educational institutions in the country. Among the projects are new programmes for academic exchange and mobility.

The BRICS International School: New Generation has concluded at HSE University, bringing together more than 100 participants from 38 BRICS and Global South countries. The attendees included early-career researchers, diplomats, entrepreneurs, journalists, and civil society representatives.

Representatives of HSE University-St Petersburg were the only participants from Russia at the large-scale event, which gathered delegates from more than 20 countries at Universiti Malaya in Kuala Lumpur.

Researchers from the International Laboratory of Microphysiological Systems at HSE University's Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology are developing methods to reduce tumour cell resistance to drugs and to create more effective, personalised cancer treatments. On October 30^th-31^st, the Perm campus of the National Research University "Higher School of Economics" (HSE) hosted researchers from 16 Russian and 9 international universities for the XII International Conference on Applied Research in Economics "iCare." The two-day event focused on internationalization in emerging economies, featuring key presentations from Professor Kazi Sohag, Head of the Laboratory of International and Regional Economics at Ural Federal University (h-index 41), and Professor Kayhan Tajeddini of Tokyo International University's Department of Strategic Management and International Business.

Researchers from the Landau Institute for Theoretical Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the HSE University's Faculty of Physics have discovered how external forces affect the behaviour of turbulent flows. The scientists showed that even a small external torque can stabilise the system and extend the lifetime of large vortices. These findings may improve the accuracy of models of atmospheric and oceanic circulation. The paper has been published in Physics of Fluids.

Management intellectualisation, synergy with AI, and the transition to microclouds are expected to be the main trends in the digital economy over the next decade. Experts in cloud technologies gathered at HSE University for a foresight session to discuss these trends and their evolution up to 2040. They explored how process intellectualisation would develop, as well as ideas for storing data in space to minimise environmental impact.

On October 22, 2025, HSE University hosted an open meeting with representatives of the Chinese news agency Xinhua, led by Sun Zhiping, Chief of Staff to the Director General. Participants discussed current challenges in journalism and the operational specifics of news agencies in today’s media landscape. Many students took the opportunity to ask questions and practise speaking Mandarin. The visit was organised by the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs in collaboration with the HSE Institute of Media and the TASS news agency.
